Krugersdorp Game Reserve

Although the reserve is relatively small, it boasts enough wildlife to satisfy any tourist’s hankering for an African experience. The reserve is mainly grassveld with small dams and reedbeds and provide the visitor the opportunity to observe many of the grassland species of Gauteng. The birdwatcher will not be dissappointed as the reserve has recorded aprroximately 200 species! Bigger wildlife includes buffalo, hippo, zebra, giraffe and numerous anthelope. Day and night game drives are offered as well as horse riding trails.

Walter Sisulu National Botanical Garden

The Botanical Garden is home to a breeding pair of majestic Verreaux’s Eagles, who’s nest is on the cliffs alongside the waterfall. Apart from these eagles the garden is home to about 220 other bird soecies as well as to a number of other small mammels. Several short walks run through the garden and there are many shaded lawn areas for a relaxing picnic.

Sterkfontein Caves

The Sterkfontein caves is the renowned site where world famous scientists discovered the famous Mrs. Ples. This site has fossil deposits dating back to almost 3.5 million years. Owned by the University of the Witwatersrand, Sterkfontein has been excavated for more than 62 years in total and is still yielding up secrets.

Rhino & Lion Nature Reserve
